Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

I'd like to introduce myself and non-profit organization, Skye's Shining Stars while inviting you to aid us in our mission. Acknowledging all of our concrete roles in the community, I am confident that we will be able to partner for the benefit of the greater Champaign Region. Skye's Shining Stars is an organization birthed from passion and my interconnected identities of working parent and spouse, community member, educator and youth advocate and it is upon these tenets that the organization will act.

Skye's Story

As a youth advocate, I supervised visits for children and their families who were actively involved in a DCFS open case. This is one of their most vulnerable states where you meet individuals in situations that forces families to deal with uncomfortable realities about themselves. During those emotional times I anchored myself as the calm in their storms. As an engaged community member, I recently served as a member of the sub review committee where I partake in reviewing written complaints from citizens and their encounter with Champaign Law Enforcement. Objectively providing feedback to our community law enforcers I have gained a realistic look into gaps within the community. As an active support staff in the education system, I have started and sustained initiatives that directly serve our teens and community today. Skye's Shining Stars is a root extension of myself and service.
